Return to practice

If a practitioner applies for a practising certificate and has not held a practising certificate for 3 years or more, the Council is required to make enquiries into the competence of the practitioner before issuing them a practising certificate.

The Council has developed a Policy on Recency of Practice which details the process the Council will follow in considering applications from persons returning to the workforce after an extended time away. If this situation applies to you, please read this policy so that you are aware of the process and the documentation required with your application.

If you were previously registered with the Council and your name was removed or cancelled and you wish to re-register or retore your name to the register, you will first need to complete a new registration or restoration application before you can apply for a practising certificate. Please call the Council’s office on 04 978 5040 to discuss your situation and we will advise you which application is right for you.
